Makesha N. Nowell joined Beasley Allen in June 2013. She is working in our Mass Torts section, which handles cases involving dangerous and defective medical devices and drugs. Kesha is currently working on cases involving metal-on-metal hip implants, in particular cases included in the Biomet Multidistrict Litigation (MDL). Prior to working for Beasley Allen, Kesha was employed as a Staff Attorney with Legal Services Alabama, working in the area of Housing, Foreclosure, Consumer Protection and Bankruptcy. Kesha earned her J.D. from Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in 2008. While at Jones, she was awarded Best Paper – Jurisprudence, 2007; and the Public Interest Award, and was a member of the Public Interest Law Society. Prior to graduation she completed an Internship with the Houston County District Court and the Houston County District Attorney’s office. She also worked as a Volunteer Lawyer for Legal Services Alabama in Foreclosure Counseling. She is a member of the Alabama State Bar, ASB Women’s Section, ASB Young Lawyers Section, Montgomery County Bar Association, MCBA Women’s Section, and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. Kesha obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Psychology, from Troy State University Dothan in 2002. Kesha moved to Montgomery, Ala., after graduating from law school. She is married to Rustin Nowell and they have a daughter, Reagan. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and attending church at St. James United Methodist Church.
